Maaga ang Pasko! ADMU won’t extend 1st semester despite November holidays

Oct 30, 2017 @ 13:17

Ateneans can look forward to starting their Christmas break early despite the various class suspensions that are set to happen in November over the ASEAN Summit.

In a memorandum dated October 28, Ateneo de Manila University Vice President for the Loyola Schools Maria Luz Vilches said the first semester will end on December 9, as scheduled.

However, the following changes will be made due to the class suspensions that occurred due to recent typhoons, as well as the upcoming cancellations due to the ASEAN Summit:

– November 29 will no longer be a Study Day. Regular classes will be held on this day for both undergraduate and graduate classes. While the week of November 13 to 18 can be utilized by teachers and students to work on individual or grou projects and assignments, November 17 has been designated as a study day.

– Final exams will begin on December 4 instead of December 1. The first two days of December will be regular class days.

– The revised schedule of exams is as follows:

December 4 to 7: Written exams for weekday classes

December 9: Exams for Saturday classes

December 4 to 8: Oral Exams

Vilches urged professors to be “creative” in teaching in light of the shortened period for holding classes, though they are discouraged from carrying out course-related activities outside their class time or outside the campus.

“Online platforms are highly encouraged alternatives for carrying out course-related engagements,” she said.
