Macron wins race to French presidency
Emmanuel Macron has won the French presidential run-off election against Marine Le Pen.
Macron — a former civil servant, investment banker, and economy minister — ran for president as an independent centrist candidate.
“Tonight you won, France won. Everyone told us it was impossible, but they don’t know France,” BBC News, in an article published online on May 8, quoted him as telling supporters.
Macron promised to fight “the forces of division that undermine France.”
According to the article, he won 66.1% of the vote while Le Pen won 33.9% of the vote.
