Maghanda ka na Mabilog! Duterte assigns narcopolitikos’ nightmare Espenido to Iloilo
Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido, the cop who was assigned to the turfs of Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. and Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr. at the time of their deaths, is headed to Iloilo.
President Rodrigo Duterte announced Espenido’s next assignment in a speech at the Libingan ng mga Bayani Monday (August 28).
“Your next assignment is Iloilo,” the President told the police official, touted as the “most in demand” cop in the country due to his role in the death of Espinosa and Parojinog, who were both tagged as narcopolitikos.
Duterte hinted that Espenido will have to run after Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, who happens to be the cousin of Senate Minority Franklin Drilon.
“I will ask you again, you asked for the assignment sa Leyte, namatay ang mayor doon. You asked for another assignment sa Ozamiz, namatay ang mayor doon – si Parojinog. Ngayon gusto mo sa Iloilo kasi nga si Mabilog has been identified as a protector, mayor. Mabuhi kaya siya?” Duterte asked.
“Gusto ko nang tanungin kasi ako naman ang pagbibintangan. Ikaw ang nagbaril diyan tapos ako ang mapa-publish kung saan-saan. Pero if you do the country a favor, I will support you,” he added.
The President previously called Iloilo City the “most shabulized” locality in the country, while Mabilog has also been included in his so-called “narco list.”
Duterte promised Espenido that they will both go to jail should he happen to face criminal cases in the performance of his duty– so long as he follows the rules of engagement.
“Murder and homicide or whatever unlawful killing is not allowed. But in the performamce of your duty, tell your men that whenever their lives are in danger and they are in the actual performance of a duty, your duty requires you to overcome the resistance of the person you are arresting, not only just shouting at him to surrender because if he does not and he resists and it is a violent one, placing in jeopardy the lives of my policemen, and of course the military, you are free to kill the idiots. That is my order to you,” he said.
Espenido was the chief of Albuera Police when Espinosa was arrested on drug charges and eventually killed in his detention cell last November.
He was then transferred to Ozamiz City, where Parojinog died on July 30 during a police raid.
