Magtulungan tayo kesa magbangayan: Leni says Palace overreacted to her remark on slow aid delivery

Jan 5, 2017 @ 20:07

Vice President Leni Robredo believes Malacañang made a mountain out of a molehill of her comment regarding the slow delivery of aid to certain areas affected by Typhoon Nina in the Bicol region.

Facing reporters in Buhi, Camarines Sur Thursday (Jan. 5), Robredo said her remark two days earlier that aid was slow to come by for typhoon victims was only applicable to select areas.

She noted that reporters themselves heard residents of Ocampo, Camarines Sur complain about the pace of assistance when they visited the area together with her last Tuesday (Jan. 3).

“Iyong panahon ngayon, panahon na magtulung-tulungan tayo. Parang nag-over react naman ata.

Malacañang has cried foul over the Vice President’s remark that relief operations in Bicol were slow, saying it was unfair to disaster officials, social workers, and other volunteers who were on Ground Zero even before Nina made a landfall.

While Robredo acknowledged there were certain areas where aid was fast to arrive, she said it would be best for the public and private sectors to just work together for the typhoon victims.

Dapat walang pulitika ang pag-ayos sa disaster,” she said, noting that politikos in the areas she has visited in Camarines Sur, Albay and Camiguin expressed willingness to assist even if they are not her party mates.
