Maingay na, mahilig pa! Andanar calls EU officials ‘sex-crazed’
Communications Secretary Martin Andanar sure does take after President Rodrigo Duterte when it comes to cracking sexual innuendoes.
In a recent trip to the United Kingdom, Andanar mocked European Union officials critical of Duterte’s drug war by calling them “palaiyot,” the Visayan term for someone who likes having sex.
“’Yung mga maingay na palaiyot, ’yung mga maiingay…. Alam mo, ang problema sa kanila hanggang ingay lang sila, wala namang napatunayan. Kung tatanungin mo ’yung kanilang prime minister, mga presidente, ’yung talagang namamahala sa mga bansa, pati sila sumusuporta kay President Duterte. ” Andanar told the audience, who were comprised of Filipinos working and living in the UK.
“’Yung mga nasa ’baba na palaiyot, sila lang ang maingay kasi kulang pa sa iyot,” he added, drawing laughter from the crowd.
The controversial portion of Andanar’s speech has spread on social media, drawing mostly negative reaction.
Duterte had lambasted the EU several times for criticizing the bloody war on drugs.
He recently ordered the envoys of countries comprising the EU to leave the country after the bloc’s supposed threat to oust the Philippines from the United Nations.
The statement, however, was made by a seven-member delegation from the foreign Progressive Alliance and the Party of European Socialists (PES), which visited the country earlier this month.
Malacañang later clarified there is no directive for EU ambassadors to leave the Philippines.
