Makati court orders Prietos to pay P478.2M in back rent over Mile Long property
After getting evicted from the Mile long property, the Prieto family owned Sunvar Realty Development Corporation has been ordered the pay P478.2 million in back rent.
The Makati City regional trial court (RTC) branch 141 issued a decision which directed the company to pay the amount to the National Power Corp. which is the registered owner of the property.
Apart from the back rent, the court also told Sunvar to pay the P3.2 million monthly rent it owed the NPC from June 2015 up to the date it vacated the property.
The Office of the Solicitor General, which represents the NPC, has been sending notices to Sunvar to vacate the property since 2008 but were ignored.
Only after the Court of Appeals (CA) resolved the property issue did Sunvar vacate Mile Long.
President Rodrigo Duterte had criticized the Philippine Daily Inquirer which is owned by the Prietos of its unfair reporting of him.
The President also hit the Prietos for illegally occupying Mile Long and failing to give the government its dues.
