Mana sa magulang! Berna Romulo Puyat’s son to speak at UK school’s graduation rites after achieving highest honors
Excellence indeed runs in the blood of Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo Puyat’s family.
Puyat’s son Vito is set to graduate from Newcastle University on July 10 with First Class Honours, the highest possible grade classification that a student can achieve in the United Kingdom.
It could be likened to the summa cum laude distinction awarded by Philippine schools.
Due to his achievement, Vito will speak on behalf of his class at Newcastle University’s graduation rites.
Vito, 21, took up Psychology at Newcastle University but also had several classes on neuroscience.
He told Town and Country magazine that he plans to pursue postgraduate studies in neuroscience in the future.
Vito’s achievements shouldn’t come as a surprise since his parents are both equally smart.
Berna graduated from the University of the Philippines cum laude with a degree in economics. She finished her postgraduate course from the same school with a magna cum laude distinction.
The Tourism Secretary’s late husband, abogado Dave Puyat, placed fourth in the 1995 Bar exam.
With his innate intelligence and diligence, Vito will surely make a mark in the field he chooses.
