Marami pang kakaining bigas! Duterte needs 2 more ‘honeymoon’ years to beat Pnoy as most ‘loved’ president – SWS

Oct 10, 2017 @ 19:09

Good news, bad news for Duterte Die-hard Supporters.

Social Weather Stations President Mahar Mangahas say the good news is despite the steep drop in President Rodrigo Duterte’s net satisfaction rating to plus 48 points in September 2017 from plus 66 in June 2017, his numbers are still considered “good” or well within what SWS considers as a “honeymoon period” for a president (any rating above plus 30 points is good).

The bad news, however, is Duterte has to sustain a good rating or keep his numbers above plus 30 points for at least two more years to match or surpass the record of former President Noynoy Aquino, said Mangahas.

Mangahas said Noynoy enjoyed the “longest honeymoon” with Filipinos after getting a good rating for at least three years.

Mangahas said that at this point in his term, Duterte was only than former President Erap Estrada’s presidential honeymoon record of one year, the shortest among all post-People Power presidents. (Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was the only president who had a zero honeymoon period).

Before he can beat Noynoy’s record, Mangahas said Duterte should first beat former President Fidel V. Ramos who had a honeymoon period of two years (1992 to 1994) and former President Cory Aquino who had a honeymoon period of nearly three years (1986 to 1989).

“He (Duterte) has a long way to go. He needs to maintain it (good rating) for two more years before he can say he is as popular as others,” he said.
