Mawawala na ang PDEA? Duterte tells soldiers to be ready for war on drugs
Is President Rodrigo Duterte set to remove the authority to go after drug suspects from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency?
Duterte on Tuesday (November 21) told soldiers to be prepared to go to war against illegal drugs.
“So may dalawa tayong kalaban. Kayo ang babalik sa giyera, bantay kayo. Ang kalaban natin is terrorism, ang NPA, pati drugs,” he said after visiting wounded soldiers in Taguig City.
Duterte ordered PDEA to be the lead agency in the government’s offensive against illegal drugs in October, following public outrage over the killing of minors when the police was head of the campaign.
The President, however, admitted he does not know whether the government’s anti-drug campaign improved or worsened with PDEA at the helm.
“But if I think na medyo talagang lumala lalo kasi kulang nga ‘yung PDEA personnel, 2,000 lang ‘yan buong bayan, ibabalik ko talaga ‘yung pulis,” he said.
