May laban sa 2019! Jinggoy, Lapid, Bistek make it to ‘Magic 12’ in survey commissioned by PDP-Laban
Thanks in part to their showbiz backgrounds, former senators Jinggoy Estrada and Lito Lapid both have a chance of reclaiming their seats in 2019 based on the survey commissioned by the ruling PDP-Laban.
Results of the survey, which was shared by Philippine Star editor Marichu Villanueva in her December 23 column, showed Estrada ranking fourth on the list of new senators.
Lapid, meanwhile, was at eighth place with 31 percent of survey respondents saying they will vote for him.
Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, who used to be an actor, ranked 10th to 12th place with 27 percent of poll respondents saying they will pick him as senator.
Coming first on the list is reelectionist Senator Grace Poe, who has a 58 percent probability of topping the Senate race. In second place is former senator and Taguig City Rep. Pia Cayetano.
Reelectionist senators Cynthia Villar and Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III are in 4th and 5th to 6th place, respectively.
Tying with Pimentel is Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, who has a 32 percent chance of winning.
Reelectionist senator Sonny Angara is in 7th place while Estrada’s half-brother, Senator JV Ejercito, is at 9th place.
Rounding up the “Magic 12” circle of winning senatorial bets are Senator Nancy Binay in the 10th place and Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa in the 12th place.
Villanueva said PDP-Laban commissioned private pollsters to do the survey because they want to field winnable candidates in the 2019 elections.
