May pagkabugok talaga! Duterte ‘pities’ EU Parliament after calling for De Lima’s release
President Rodrigo Duterte has slammed the European Parliament for its “naivete” after it called for the release of Senator Leila de Lima from detention over drug-related charges.
In his speech at the celebration of People’s Day in Oriental Mindoro Wednesday (March 29), Duterte called members of the European Parliament “terrible.”
“I’m being castigated by the EU. Ito namang EU for their naivete, I pity those guys,” he said. “Without offending those guys– itong mga puti [may] pagkabugok talaga.”
Members of the European Parliament have called for De Lima’s release in a joint resolution posted on its website. They also want an independent international investigation on Duterte’s war on drugs.
De Lima, a vocal critic of the President, is currently detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame.
In his speech, Duterte scoffed at the European Parliament’s statement calling De Lima a political prisoner.
“Kayo ba naniniwala na political prisoner si De Lima?” Duterte asked the audience, which included some Caucasians.
“Pinapa-release ng EU kasi political prisoner daw,” he said.
The President cursed at the European Parliament over its renewed criticism of the government’s war on drugs.
“Marami raw akong pinatay, 10,000. T— ina, sobra naman yan!” he said.
