May taning na? Duterte: Hindi ko masabi kung meron akong tama o wala
President Rodrigo Duterte has hinted that he’s not at the peak of his health as he revealed undergoing a series of medical tests during what Malacañang claimed was his “private time” on Wednesday (October 3).
In a speech before members of the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association Thursday (October 4), Duterte said he went to Cardinal Santos Medical Center the previous day for his doctors to “get some samples.”
“I was about to have a… Sana ngayon Cabinet meeting ‘yung yesterday but ‘yung reading ng akin ano… Somebody advised my doctor just also to repeat and get some samples there both dito uli. So I stayed there for one hour sa Cardinal Santos,” he said.
Duterte said he has yet to find out whether he has a serious ailment, though he admitted that his Barrett’s esophagus has been bothering him.
“Hindi ko pa masabi kung meron ba talaga akong tama o wala. But I have this Barrett and it has been bothering me since — ever since — dahil nga sa inom rin,” he said.
The Mayo Clinic defines Barretts’s esophagus as involving the replacement of the esophagus’ tissue by tissues similar to the intestinal lining.
Duterte, however, said he would not seek treatment in case he finds out that he has an advance stage of cancer.
“If it’s cancer, it’s cancer. And if it’s third stage, no more treatment. I will not prolong my agony in this office or anywhere,” he said.
Both Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque and Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go earlier denied that Duterte went to the hospital when he skipped an event of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation in Malacañang Wednesday.
Roque kept in the dark on Duterte hospital visit: I did not lie!
