What do you mean? Roque to ask Duterte if PNP’s return to drug war is a sure thing
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque will clarify with President Rodrigo Duterte Monday (November 27) if he is decided on bringing the Philippine National Police back into the drug war.
In a radio interview Sunday (November 26), Roque said Duterte appears to have made no final decision yet on which government agency should be at the helm of the campaign against illegal drugs.
“Noong minsan nga eh, nai-report na halos ibabalik na niya talaga sa pulis ang war on drugs. Pero noong magkasama kami noong isang gabi lamang, noong kasama namin iyong mga biktima ng Maguindanao Massacre noong 23rd of November, lumabas na naman iyong topic, sabi niya pinag-iisipan pa rin niya,” he said.
Roque will join Duterte in Sultan Kudarat for the first Bangsamoro Assembly. He said he will ask the President to clarify his statement on the war on drugs while they were aboard the airplane or helicopter.
Last week, Duterte said there is already an executive order on his desk for the return of the PNP to the drug war but he has yet to sign it.
In recent speeches, however, the President said he was inclined to have the PNP lead the drug war again if the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency fails to curb the narcotics trade.
Duterte placed the PDEA in control of the drug war in October following outrage over the killing of two teenagers in police operations.
