Mga pasaway! Duterte warns ‘narco mayors’: You’re signing your death warrant
President Rodrigo Duterte said mayors engaged in the illegal drug trade are practically signing their death warrant by refusing to stop their business.
In a speech during House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez’s 60th birthday Friday (January 12), Duterte said something has to be done about mayors who order the killing of policemen who oppose them.
“Using the platform of the mayorship for drug distribution, you’re signing your death warrant
there, totoo lang,” he said.
Duterte said that if other Presidents were able to turn a blind eye on certain mayors’ involvement in the illegal drug trade, he can’t let it pass.
“Hindi ko kayang sikmurain yan na pati mga tao sa gobyerno papatayin mo, lalo na pulis mo? Then you’re asking for it, really, for something that is agony,” he said.
Three mayors have been killed over their alleged drug links since Duterte assumed office in 2016. These were: Albuera, Leyte mayor Rolando Espinosa, Saudi Ampatuan mayor Samsudin Dimaukom and Ozamiz City mayor Reynaldo Parojinog.
