Mr. About-Face? Nograles says he’s now open to endorsing Robredo impeachment rap

May 3, 2017 @ 19:08

What a world of difference an apology can make, especially for PBA Party-list Rep. Jericho “Koko” Nograles.

The rookie solon said Wednesday (May 3) that it’s now possible for him to endorse the impeachment complaint against Vice President Leni Robredo that was prepared by a group of lawyers called the Impeach Leni Movement.

Less than 24 hours ago, Nograles made it sound to House media that he wouldn’t touch the complaint with a ten-meter pole, especially after the lawyers allegedly “misrepresented” him by using his name on the complaint without his permission. The document showed his name as the congressman-endorser.

But following the apology of Impeach Leni lawyer, Bruce Rivera, the House politiko said he would gladly study the complaint for his potential endorsement.

“I will accept [the apology] and study [the complaint]. That would be the fair thing to do,” Nograles told reporters.

“We cannot close our doors just like that, especially not for emotion, not for pride, there’s a job to be done,” he added.

A Politiskoop report said that Nograles, a member of the Supermajority, was actually the one designated to endorse and file the impeachment complaint against administration critic Robredo.

His failure to do so apparently pissed off House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez.

It appears that walking back on statements is a hobby of Nograles. Last March, he issued a statement saying that he won’t support the passage of the death penalty revival bill, only to vote “yes” to the measure on third and final reading.
