Mula Luzon hanggang Mindanao: Sara strengthens ‘Hugpong’s’ power with multi-party alliances
Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) may be– in its founder, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte’s words– a regional party– but it’s set to be a force to be reckoned with nationwide with the alliances it will formalize this week.
HNP will sign on Monday (August 13) alliance agreements with eight national and regional political parties.
The event, which will be held at The Blue Leaf Pilipinas in Parañaque City, will be attended by Sara and other HNP officials.
The parties which will coalesce with HNP are: the Nationalist People’s Coalition, the National Unity Party, Alyansa Bol-anon Alang sa Kausaban (ABAKA), Aggrupation of Party for Progress (APP), Ilocano Timpuyog, Kambilan, Padayon Pilipino and Serbisyon sa Bayan Party (SBP).
Officials of the parties will sign the agreements formalizing the alliance with HNP together with Sara.
The mayor, daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte, has maintained that HNP will remain a regional political party even as several politikos have expressed interest to join it ahead of the 2019 elections.
Sara, however, has said that HNP is open to coalescing with other political parties.
