Nagbunga ang pagkampi! Duterte appoints supporters Dante Jimenez, Greco Belgica to anti-corruption body
Two of President Rodrigo Duterte’s staunchest allies have joined the administration as members of the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission.
Duterte appointed Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) founding chairperson Dante Jimenez as the anti-corruption body’s chairperson, while former Manila councilor Greco Belgica is a commissioner.
Their appointment papers were signed on January 12.
VACC has been at the forefront of filing cases against opponents of the Duterte administration, such as former President Benigno Aquino III over the Mamasapano tragedy, Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales and Senator Risa Hontiveros.
Belgica, meanwhile, had accused the Liberal Party of masterminding a destabilization plot to oust Duterte and install Vice President Leni Robredo as President.
Other personalities appointed as commissioners of the PACC were: Gregorio Luis C. Contacto III, the abogado of gambling expert Wally Sombero, and the National Bureau of Investigation’s former Deputy Director for Administrative Services Rickson L. Chiong.
