Nagpa-plano pa kami kahapon eh! Tugade surprised by Chavez’s resignation
Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade said he was as surprised as everyone about the resignation of Undersecretary Cesar Chavez due to the problems hounding the Metro Rail Transit Line 3.
In a text message to reporters Thursday (November 23), Tugade said Chavez has his full trust and confidence.
“We have been doing plans and strategies together, up and until yesterday. Even by texts as I was on sickbay. That is why I am surprised by the very sudden turn of events,” he said.
Tugade denied he asked Chavez to resign.
For the record, and contrary to the insinuations of others, I did not cause or ask Usec. Cesar Chavez to resign,” he said.
Earlier in the day, Chavez announced his resignation out of “simple delicadeza” because of the problems affecting the MRT-3 in the past weeks.
He said his resignation was effective immediately.
Chavez added he was hopeful a more qualified person will be appointed to his post.
