Nasabon! Duterte berates Tim Orbos at Cabinet meeting
Metro Manila Development Authority chairman Tim Orbos was the second politiko who incurred President Rodrigo Duterte’s ire when he met with his Cabinet last April 3, Politiko has learned.
According to Politiko’s source, Duterte was irked by Orbos’ continued incompetence.
In particular, the President was disappointed by the absence of effective solutions to the traffic problem, which Orbos had vowed to solve when he assumed office.
He even told the MMDA chair, “Bakit ka pa nandito?”
Duterte was in a foul mood during the meeting as he sought an explanation from then-Interior Secretary Ismael Sueno about the alleged irregularities surrounding the purchase of firetrucks from Austria which were worth about P20 million each.
Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella confirmed on April 4 that there was “one other” government official who got a tongue lashing from Duterte during the meeting but declined to identify who it is.
He also clarified that the President just gave “comments” about the official and did not exactly scold him.
Asked if it was possible that another Cabinet official was next on the chopping the block after Sueno, Abella said: “Well, it all depends on how the Cabinet responds. To all of us. Not just to Cabinet members but especially to those in government.”
