Nasipa na, muntik pang masampal! Duterte fumes at DBM Usec he fired for corruption
President Rodrigo Duterte has fired an undersecretary of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) for alleged corruption.
In a speech before businessmen at Manila Hotel Thursday (October 19), Duterte said the DBM undersecretary was “tinkering with money.”
While Duterte did not name the axed official, the latest to get the boot from the administration is reportedly DBM Undersecretary Gertrudo De Leon.
Duterte allegedly summoned De Leon and berated him at the Malago clubhouse inside the Malacanang compound before firing him.
“I just fired the undersecretary of DBM, Office of the Budget. He was lucky because there were so many people. I wanted to slap him. I even stood up to — I wanted to kick him on the face. I fired him for corruption,” he said.
“The other three employees of my office — opisyal ko. I — influence spending. Of course not with the money, but this one was tinkering with the money of… I told you, I told you stop, S-T-O-P,” he added.
Last week, Duterte said he ordered the dismissal of two officials of the Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission (PRRC) for sitting on papers related to the Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3 Project.
