Natauhan din? Duterte tells Bato: Most Filipinos don’t like our war on drugs
The steep plunge in his ratings has apparently made President Rodrigo Duterte come to his senses.
Philippine National Police Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa said Duterte himself admitted that public vexation on how the police has handled his war on drugs was the real reason why he issued an executive order designating the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) as the “sole agency” to carry out anti-drug operations.
Duterte dropped the PNP from its lead role in the war on drugs just two days after the Social Weather Stations reported a steep plunge in Duterte’s net satisfaction and trust ratings without giving any reason for the twin-digit fall.
Dela Rosa said the President did not blame him and the PNP for his falling numbers.
Sabi ko, ‘Salamat sir, makapahinga na kami’,” he said.
“Kung iyan ang direct solution sa war on drugs, be careful what you wish for. Nag-fiesta na sila (drug operators),” he added.
