No ifs or buts: Gordon wants Trillanes expelled for uncouth behavior which caused a suicide and heart attack

Senator Dick Gordon is going all out in his desire to banish Sen. Sonny Trillanes from the upper chamber.

Gordon, chair of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, on Sept. 4 filed an ethics complaint against Trillanes for “unparliamentary conduct.”

“Sa akin expelled (siya dapat),” said Gordon when asked what punishment should Trillanes get from the Senate Ethics Committee, headed by Sen.Tito Sotto, which would start to tackle the complain on Monday.

A senator facing ethics case can be expelled, suspended or censured.

Trillanes earned Gordon’s ire when he accused him of trying to shield Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte and his brother-in-law Mans Carpio from investigation on their alleged involvement in smuggling at the Bureau of Customs (BoC).

“Hindi lang isang beses e. Dahil sa kanyang pam-bu-bully nagpakamatay si kwan (defense secretary Angelo Reyes) e rightly or wrongly. O kaya na stroke si (former) Ambassador (Sonia) Bradey,” Gordon said.

“Seryoso ‘yan. Huwag natin sabihin na sinisisi ko lang (si Trillanes) dahil doon,” he said on Saturday in a radio interview.

Trillanes subjected Reyes under intense questioning when the Senate investigated in 2011 the alleged corruption in the military.

Reyes, a former Armed Forces chief, on Feb. 8, 2011 shot himself in the head in front of the grave of his mother in Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina.

“Sinabi mo, ‘You have no reputation to protect.’ ‘Sabi nya magpapaliwanag lang ako. Iaayos ko lang ang pangalan ko.’ ‘You have no name to protect,'” Gordon said as he recalled the exchanges between Trillanes and Reyes during the said public hearing.

He added, “Masakit ‘yun. Sumobra sakit. Duon s’ya sa harap ng nanay n’ya nagkumpisal at binaril n’ya sarili n’ya sa harap ng puntod ng nanay n’ya.”
