Not yet verified: Aguirre defends not distributing photo of alleged opposition meeting in Marawi
It has not been verified as true.
This is the reason why Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II didn’t fully shown media the photo of the alleged destabilization plot meeting of opposition members in Marawi City.
“He did not give, release or send to anyone any picture of any Marawi meeting,” read a statement from the Department of Justice (DOJ).
“What he did was to swiftly flashed one picture in his cellular phone, but he did not allow the media to take pictures of the same precisely because the same is pending verification,” the DOJ pointed out.
Aguirre quickly flashed the photo during his morning press conference last Wednesday (June 7) of the alleged meeting in Marawi City which took place on May 2.
The photo showed Magdalo party-list Rep. Gary Alejano, Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, former presidential adviser Ronald Llamas, former Pampanga Governor Mark Lapid and former Zamboanga del Sur Vice Governor Ace Cerilles together in what appeared to be a coffee shop.
However, the photo can be found in the Facebook account of Cerilles and it showed as being posted on September 4, 2015 with the location Iloilo International Airport.
