Pa-buena mano! Duterte signs joint reso on base pay hike for soldiers, cops
President Rodrigo Duterte has signed the joint resolution paving the way for the increase in base pay of military and uniformed personnel (MUP).
Joint Resolution No. 1 took effect on January 1, the same day it was signed. However, a copy was only released to the media on Tuesday (January 8).
Those eligible for the base pay increase are: all military personnel under the Department of National Defense (DND) and uniformed personnel under the Departmet of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA).
Duterte frequently boasted last year that soldiers, cops and other uniformed personnel can look forward to receiving fatter paychecks when 2018 starts.
Government officials earlier placed the cost of hiking the base pay of MUPs at P64.2 billion for 2018.
