Pacquiao throws shade at Manila, Bicol-based critics of martial law: Gusto lang sumikat o pumapel!
Senator Manny Pacquiao torched critics of President Rodrigo Duterte’s decision extend martial law in Mindanao for the whole of 2019 as mere attention seekers.
Pacquiao was particularly critical of lawmakers based outside Mindanao who oppose the extension even though, he claimed, that most of the Southern Philippine island residents were happy with operating under martial law.
“Sa martial law extension masaya kami, wala kami problema. May peace of mind kami, iba ito sa martial law noong araw (Marcos administration from 1972 to 1981).
When asked if was he was bother that the most vocal critics of martial law were from Metro Manila and Bicol, Pacquiao said: “Baka gusto lang nila sumikat o magpapel papel.
Pacquiao said that if martial law had a bad effect on Mindanao and its residents, he won’t think twice about opposing it. “Ang ganda eh, nakabuti sa amin,” said Pacquiao, a native of Gen. Santos City.
