Palace shrugs off criticism over voiding of Trillanes’ amnesty: We’re just enforcing the law

Malacanang believes the revocation of Senator Antonio Trillanes IV’s 2010 amnesty will not have serious repercussions for the Duterte administration.
“Walang epekto ito because this is just enforcing the law,” said presidential spokesperson Harry Roque on Tuesday.
“Ang dami niyang kasinungalingan na sinasabi niya. Wala namang naniniwala sa kanya. So ito po malinaw po sa taumbayan na pinapatupad lang natin ang ating mga batas,” he said.
Duterte, the official said, has always encouraged his critics to exercise their right to free expression. “Maximum tolerance naman ang Presidente pagdating sa freedom of expression and freedom of peaceful assembly and he has proven that.”
Roque also reminded everyone that no one is above the law.
“Just because someone became senator cannot remove the fact that he committed serious breaches, capital offenses of our penal laws,” he said.
