Former President Benigno Aquino III may face new criminal raps for the Dengvaxia mess, Senator Dick Gordon said.

Gordon said Aquino should be among those held liable for the purchase and distribution of the Dengvaxia vaccine, which was recently revealed to cause a severe disease when injected into individuals without a prior dengue infection.

“Everybody from PNoy down [should be held liable.] Kasi PNoy has to explain. Dapat mag-explain siya,” Gordon said.

“Saan ka makakakita ng presidente, dalawang beses nakipag-meeting sa Sanofi?” said the senator, who chairs the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.

Aquino met with first met with Sanofi in China in 2014, which was followed with another meeting with the pharmaceutical company in France in 2015.

Gordon said Aquino and other officials implicated in the dengue vaccine mess may face negligence cases.

“Negligence and even knowing that it has not been done, it has not been tested, they pursued testing it,” Gordon said.

The Philippine government spent P3 billion in dengue vaccines which was distributed to over 730,000 students before Sanofi disclosed that the vaccine leads to a severe disease.

Aquino is currently facing usurpation of authority and graft and corruption raps at the Sandiganbayan, which was filed by the Ombudsman in relation to the botched Mamasapano operation.
