Para kay Sara! Duterte to vote for Kiko despite bashing juvenile justice law
The friendship of President Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Francis Pangilinan isn’t over despite the former’s frequent criticism of the juvenile justice law that the lawmaker authored.
In fact, Duterte on Tuesday (November 28) said he will vote for Pangilinan, the president of the Liberal Party, in an election.
Speaking at an anti-corruption forum, Duterte called Republic Act 9344 or the “Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006” a “disaster” and “very poorly done” law.
“Pero kung magtakbo ka, boboto pa rin ako sa iyo. Sabi ko, I consider it utang na loob eh,” the President said, without mentioning Pangilinan’s name.
“I hope that, someday, you will just avoid this thing, tutal kung nagkamali ka diyan — well, everybody commits a mistake, ikaw lang hindi… You did not provide the necessary intervention,” he added.
It was clear that Duterte was addressing Pangilinan since he once again told the story of how the senator made the childhood wish of his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, came true.
Sara wanted to meet Pangilinan’s wife, Sharon Cuneta, for her birthday and the senator made it happen.
Duterte has repeatedly criticized the so-called “Pangilinan law” for creating “criminal minds” because offenders below 15 years old are easily let off the hook.
