Parang referee! Duterte meets separately with feuding PDP-Laban factions
President Rodrigo Duterte met separately with feuding groups within his party, PDP-Laban, Thursday (August 9) in a bid to resolve the infighting among them.
The meeting was held at Diamond Hotel in Manila.
Photos shared by Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go showed Duterte meeting with the group led by party president Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III and the wing led by Rogelio Garcia, his classmate from the San Beda College of Law.
Last month, Garcia’s supporters elected him as PDP-Laban’s president in a national assembly held in Quezon City.
Pimentel, however, said the event was not sanctioned by the party so the election results were invalid.
A source said Duterte wants to resolve the infighting within PDP-Laban for the sake of its members who will be running in the 2019 polls.
