PET set to recount votes in 3 pilot provinces; Macalintal confident this will confirm Robredo’s win over Marcos
The Supreme Court (SC), sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), will start in February 2017 the recount of votes in three pilot provinces over the election protest of former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Lawyer Romulo Macalintal, the legal counsel of Vice President Leni Robredo, said the votes from her home province of Camarines Sur would be the first to subjected for recount.
Macalintal said this would be followed by the two other pilot provinces, namely, Iloilo and Negros Oriental.
The lawyer expressed confidence the recount would confirm Robredo did win and not Marcos who filed the election protest against her.
Citing PET Rules, Macalintal explained the election protest would be dismissed for lack of merit if Marcose failed to prove any substantial recovery of votes from the three pilot provinces.
