Politics or showbiz? Celebrities running in 2019 polls
Several celebrities are running for political office in the 2019 midterm elections.
Some stars have descended to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) to file their respective certificates of candicacies for the 2019 midterm elections.
Leading the celebrity pack is actress Vilma Santos Recto who is seeking reelection as representative of Lipa City, Batangas. The popular actress was accompanied by her supportive hubby Senator Ralph Recto at the Comelec office in Batangas City.
Musician Freddie Aguilar was among the first batch of senatorial aspirants who filed COCs at the COMELEC main office in Manila. Aguilar is a known ally of President Duterte.
Actor Roderick Paulate will run for Quezon City city mayor in next year’s elections. Paulate, currently councilor of QC, will be the running mate of mayoralty bet Chuck Mathay.
Kapamilya actor Richard Yap, who has taken his oath as member of the ruling PDP-Laban party, also reportedly plans to run for congressman of Cebu.
