Politikos congratulate Macron
Several politikos congratulated Emmanuel Macron after he emerged as the winner in the French presidential election.
Macron has won against Marine Le Pen in the run-off election.
In a tweet on May 8, US President Donald Trump said, “Congratulations to Emmanuel Macron on his big win today as the next President of France. I look very much forward to working with him!”
“Congratulations @EmmanuelMacron! Let’s meet soon, and keep working to grow & strengthen the deep ties between Canada and France,” tweeted Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also congratulated the French president-elect. Like Trump, Netanyahu looks forward to working with Macron “to confront the common challenges and seize the opportunities facing our two democracies,” according to a tweet posted by the Office of the Prime Minister of Israel.
For his part, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “Congratulations to @EmmanuelMacron for an emphatic victory in the French Presidential election. #Presidentielle2017.”
“I look forward to working closely with President-elect @EmmanuelMacron to further strengthen India-France ties,” Modi said in a subsequent tweet.
Meanwhile, in congratulating Macron, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak tweeted that he looks forward “to stronger bilateral relations between our two countries.”
Australian Prime Minister Malclom Turnbull described Macron’s victory as historic.
“Congratulations @EmmanuelMacron on your historic election win. We will build even stronger ties between our two great nations,” Turnbull tweeted.
Russian President Vladimir Putin also sent a message of congratulations to Macron.
“Vladimir Putin also wished Emmanuel Macron good health, well-being and success in performing the important duties of head of state,” stated a post dated May 8 and published on the Kremlin’s website.
