Puro ka purga! Trillanes tells Duterte to drop the dramatics, just open bank accounts
Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Friday said he was taking with a grain of salt President Rodrigo Duterte’s declaration that his six-year term would be a “purging regime.”
Trillanes said Duterte should be the last person to talk about cleansing because after lying about the billions he kept in secret bank accounts.
“Maniniwala lang ako sa purging na ‘yan ni Duterte pag pinakita nya na ‘yung mga bank accounts nya,” he said in text message to reporters.
“Kasi hanggang ngayon, hindi pa rin nya mapaliwanag kung bakit meron syang bilyon bilyong piso (na bank deposits),” Trillanes said.
Trillanes said that it was more likely that the President would end up being “purged” by the public for lying about his massive wealth
Days before the May 2016 presidential elections, Trillanes came out with an exposé alleging that Duterte kept large sums of undeclared money. Even after Duterte won, the senator continued to pursue his claim that the President had more than P2 billion in his bank accounts even when he was still serving as mayor of Davao City.
In a speech Thursday, the President announced that he would fire another chairperson of a government agency and three police generals due to corruption issue.
Duterte said intends to cleanse the government in the next few days.
