Push mo ‘yan ‘te! Check out how Nancy Binay stomps on trolls
Senator Nancy Binay does not mind being bashed all over social media for the outfits she is wearing everytime she goes to a State of the Nation Address (SONA) but she hopes her online trolls can also find the time to spread awareness on more important matters besides the memes about her clothes.
“Truly amazed that for the fourth consecutive year, my outfits for SONA have been trending on social media. It must have taken a lot of time & effort to make all those memes about me. Hope your creative juices go beyond my SONA outfits,” Binay wrote in a Facebook post Wednesday (July 27).
“Please help me in spreading awareness on BILIARY ARTESIA babies by creating posts on your social media accounts about this life-threatening disease. Let us also make this a trending topic. It’s about time to turn the hate into hope, love & life. ☺ #BiliaryArtesia #BeNice#BePartoftheChange,” she added.
For this year’s opening of the 17th Congress at the Senate, which happened hours before the SONA, Binay wore a black gown with Filipiniana butterfly sleeves. Netizens mocked her for wearing it by putting her photo alongside that of a black telescope goldfish.
In another meme, Binay was pictured next to ‘Valak,’ the demon dressed as an evil nun in the second installment of Hollywood horror movie franchise ‘The Conjuring’ because of the embellishment in her gown’s sleeves.
Binay changed to a black corporate wear when she attended SONA at the Batasang Pambansa in accordance with the new dress code set by House Speaker Pantaleon ‘Bebot’ Alvarez this year.
Biliary atresia is a rare congenital liver disease that affects newborn infants. Children afflicted with this ailment appear jaundiced due to deficiency or inflammation of their bile ducts. So far, the only ways to treat such disorder are through liver transplant or Kasai procedure, which are too expensive.
