Quid pro quo: USecs who ratted on Sueno on their way out
The three undersecretaries of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) who complained about former Secretary Ismael Sueno’s alleged wrongdoing may have gotten their way when he was fired, but their days at the agency are also numbered.
Politiko has learned that Undersecretaries John Castriciones, Emilie Padilla and Jesus Hinlo will soon be axed.
This, even as Sueno expressed hope on Thursday (April 6) that his successor will be able to work smoothly with the three undersecretaries.
According to Politiko’s source, Castriciones, Padilla and Hinlo will lose their posts since President Rodrigo Duterte will give the new DILG Secretary– whom he has yet to name– a free hand to choose his subordinates.
This directive is practically a green light for the new DILG chief to boot the three undersecretaries out.
After all, the person who hired the DILG executives concerned was none other than Sueno.
In a confidential memorandum addressed to Duterte, the three undersecretaries accused Sueno of corruption and favoring DILG executives linked to former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas.
Sueno has denied the allegations and insisted he is not corrupt.
