Quimbo slams Robredo impeachment movers: Nakaka-cheap!
That’s how Deputy Speaker Miro Quimbo described the likes of lawyer Oliver Lozano, who together with nuisance election candidate Melchior Chavez sent to the House of Representatives (HOR) Monday (March 20) a draft impeachment complaint against Vice President Leni Robredo.
“Congress should not allow itself to be used by these “recidivist impeachers” who trivialize this deeply sacred accountability measure enshrined in our constitution. We must not allow congress and its members to be dragged into their petty political charades,” Quimbo said in a statement.
Quimbo and Robredo are both from the Liberal Party (LP).
“Ginagawa nilang dalawa singko ang impeachment. It’s a travesty to our political institutions if we are to allow these people to cheapen this process,” the Deputy Speaker further said.
The unendorsed, six-page complaint from Lozano and Chavez sought Robredo’s impeachment on grounds of “betrayal of the public trust and culpable violation of the constitution.” The duo also called Robredo “a termite” of the government.
It remains to be seen if House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez will endorse the impeachment complaint.
