Removal of SAF men in PNP awards baffles Binay
Vice President Jejomar Binay was baffled with the reported removal of the names of the Special Action Force (SAF) troopers involved in the Mamasapano operation on the list of awardees for the 114th anniversary of the police force.
“Ano kayang dahilan?” Binay asked during an interview in San Quintin, Pangasinan
“Eh si Colonel [Raymund Train] siya ‘yong nag-lead. At tsaka siya yata ‘yong nag-lead no’ng nakakuha ‘nung daliri ba,” he added, referring to the severed finger of Marwan which was presented to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Train and slain PO2 Romeo Cempron were reportedly ordered removed from the list of awardees.
Cempron was supposed to be conferred the Medalya ng Kagitingan (Medal of
Valor), while Train was to be awarded the Medalya ng Kabayanihan (PNP
Distinguished Conduct Medal).
“Nakakalungkot naman ‘yon.” Binay said .
The Vice President earlier assailed President Benigno Aquino III for failing to mention the 44 SAF men in his State of the Nation Address last June 27.
