Rigodon na! Harry Roque named new Duterte spokesman, Abella offered envoy post
Starting next week, Kabayan party list Rep. Harry Roque will reportedly start working as new Presidential spokesman.
Roque, a staunch supporter of President Duterte, will take the place of Ernesto Abella who is reportedly being eyed for an ambassadorial position. The latest reorganization was reportedly discussed by the President when he attended the birthday celebration of Roque in Davao City last Friday night.
“The new spox by Monday, 30 October 2017. Congrats Harry Roque!” political strategist Malou Tiquia wrote on Facebook.
Broadcast journalist Jay Sonza also confirmed that Roque has agreed to become the President’s spokesman.
“Harry roque officially accepted the challenge to be the spokesman of the Rodrigo Roa Duterte, President of the Republic of the Philippines, effective Monday, October 30, 2017,” Sonza said.
Earlier, Abella skipped his regular press conference in Malacañang with his assistant China Jocson explaining he had prior engagements. Jocson told reporters that Abella was still the Presidential spokesman, dismissing rumors that he was on the way out due to his supposed poor performance.
A Politiko source said Abella, a former pastor, might be tapped as the President’s envoy to face western media and clean up “dilawan-infested” embassies abroad.
