Robredo hopes cases against her will be resolved without asking help from ‘others’
Vice President Leni Robredo expressed hope Tuesday that the cases filed against her will be resolved properly by the concerned institutions.
In an ambush interview in Quezon City after a Brigada Eskwela stint Tuesday (May 16), Robredo noted that she has not been given a chance to hear the bases of the impeachment complaint that a group of lawyers allied with President Rodrigo Duterte are planning to file against her.
“Iyong sa atin lang, iyong mga reklamo na idudulog sa korte, sa DOJ, sa fiscal, parang, mabigyan siya ng resolusyon na maayos para hindi kinakailangan na naghihingi tayo ng tulong sa iba,” she said.
A poll protest has been filed by former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. against Robredo before the Supreme Court, sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal.
The Vice President was asked for her thoughts on her own impeachment complaint after reacting to the dismissal by the House of Representatives’ justice committee of a similar case filed against Duterte.
Robredo said no one can stop anyone from filing a case against Duterte before the International Criminal Court (ICC) and there’s an even more pressing need for the country to prove its democratic institutions are working.
