Romualdez: Yolanda survivors forever grateful to Duterte

Leyte Rep. Yedda Marie Romualdez expressed her heartfelt gratitude to President Rodrigo Dutere for visiting and extending assistance to Eastern Visayas shortly after the onslaught of Super Typhoon Yolanda five years ago.
In an interview, Romualdez said Duterte, then mayor of Davao City, didn’t hesitate to send emergency responders through 911 Davao and Task Force Davao in the areas devastated by the catastrophic calamity in November 2013.
“We thank the malasakit of all volunteers especially President Duterte who was then the Davao City mayor for coming in Yolanda-hit areas and help us,” said Romualdez.
Romualdez expressed high hopes that the international community would continue to support Yolanda survivors amid the discovery of
alleged inhumane and substandard housing projects.
“Now we have seen so much progress that has been achieved in building back our communities even better, and we have to thank the help of our Filipino and foreign friends as well as our national and local government for their continued leadership and support in the rehabilitation efforts,” said Romualdez.
Thousands of people perished November 8, 2013 as Super Typhoon Yolanda (international codename: Haiyan) walloped most of the Eastern Visayas region.
