From Russia, Koko questions Trillanes’ motive in US visit: I hope he’s not working for bad relations
Is he now a US politiko?
Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III on Thursday posed this question on his colleague, Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV who is currently in the US, allegedly to convince American senators to discourage US Pres. Donald Trump from proceeding with his planned visit to the Philippines.
Pimentel, who is currently in Russia, signed a memorandum of understanding with the largest party in Russia, the United Russia, to bring Philippines closer together through relations between their ruling parties.
Pimentel signed as president of PDP-Laban in the said MOU.
Through text message, Pimentel said Trillanes informed him of the US trip but did not provide details as to the latter’s “activities.”
The Senate chief refused to entertain further questions as he asked the issues concerning Trillanes should be directed instead to the latter.
“I am abroad trying my best to develop, enhance and strengthen PH (Philippine) relations with various countries (Russia and Great Britain),” said Pimentel
“I hope no one else is wishing or worse, working for ‘bad’ relations between PH (Philippines) and other countries like the US and EU (European Union) members. If we love our country, we should always promote our beloved country’s best interest, always,” he said.
