Sa Marawi lang dapat! Politiko fans cool to extending martial law in Mindanao
The majority of Politiko fans are opposed to extending martial law in Mindanao even if the Supreme Court has upheld its constitutionality, results of a poll has revealed.
Politiko’s survey showed that half of the site’s readers or 52 percent want President Rodrigo Duterte to scale the scope of martial law down to Marawi City, where government forces are battling the ISIS-inspired Maute group.
Three out of 10 Politiko fans, meanwhile, back extending the duration of martial law in Mindanao.
Ten percent would rather that the police and military make a recommendation on the issue while the remaining seven percent of netizens do not care at all.
Politiko’s poll was conducted from July 9 to 15 with 550 fans as respondents.
Voting 11-3-1, the Supreme Court earlier this month upheld the constitutionality of Duterte’s declaration of martial law in Mindanao.
Duterte has yet to announce whether he will extend martial law, although Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana has submitted his recommendation to Malacañang.
