Sa Maynila na lang mambiktima! Duterte tells NPA to extort money from NCR-based companies instead of Bukidnon power plant
President Rodrigo Duterte has asked the communist New People’s Army not to extort money from the operators of the newly inaugurated Pulanai hydroelectric plant in Bukidnon as Mindanao continues to grapple with unstable power supply.
Speaking at the inauguration of the 10.6-megawatt power plant Friday (Dec. 9), Duterte said: “I wish the guys here would operate it with efficiency, and may I ask the New People’s Army, ‘wag niyo itong hingaan kasi pag nagkuha kayo ng pera sa kanila, itong mga ‘to mag-plano naman kung paano pataasan nila ‘yung electric.”
Instead of extorting money from operators of the power plant, Duterte suggested that NPA rebels go to Manila instead.
“So doon na lang kayo maghingi kaya sa— Punta kayo ng Maynila, tuturo ko ‘yung malalaking korporasyon akyatin ninyo,” he said.
NPA is known to collect revolutionary taxes from business entities in their turfs. Non-compliance by the owners have been reported to lead to violence or destruction of properties.
