Sa Valenzuela mismo! Win Gatchalian notes aggressive recruitment of workers for ‘Oust Duterte’ plot
Senator Win Gatchalian on Friday expressed alarm over the reported “aggressive” recruitment of workers in Valenzuela City by alleged groups linked to the Red October destabilization plot.
Gatchalian learned about the alleged “massive” recruitment in factories from businessmen and workers whom he talked to when he went home to Valenzuela over the weekend.
“Last weekend umuwi ako sa Valenzuela and I talked to the people in charge sa mga negosyo at manggagawa namin,” he said in an interview.
“At nabalitaan ko na meron mga recruitment na nangyayari na hindi naman ginagawa sa mga nakaraang panahon,” Gatchalian said.
He added, “Ako, tingin ko konektado ito sa intelligence information na lumalabas na meron mga grupo na binubuo para i-destabilize ang government.”
“Feeling ko, itong recruitment na ito ay konektado sa destabilization plot,” Gatchalian said.
He was referring to the claim of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Phil. National Police (PNP) that the communists were infiltrating colleges and universities as well as factories to join the move to oust the Duterte administration.
“Itong last 30 days, may mga organizers na pumapasok sa mga factories at pabrika at pinipilit silang gumawa ng union,” Gatchalian said.
Gatchalian is worried that the reported recruitment might disrupt economic activity and jobs in Valenzuela City.
“Nakakaalarma ito dahil gusto natin tuloy-tuloy ‘yung trabaho, ‘yung pag nenegosyo, at yung pumapasok na grupo na gusto gumawa ng gulo, maapektuhan nila diyan ang mga trabaho ng tao,” he said.
“Naalarma lang kami dahil sa tagal namin dito sa Valenzuela, itong huling 30 days lang namin nakita itong aggressive recruitment,” said Gatchalian, chairman of the Senate Committee on Economic Affairs.
Asked how many people were involved in the reported recruitment of workers, he said, “It’s hard to estimate kung ilan na ang kanilang napasukan but definitely we’re very certain na may grupong pilit na pumapasok sa mga pabrika.”
