Sa wakas! Senators hail passing of stronger anti-hazing law
Violence is “unjustifiable” and must never be equated to one’s loyalty.
Senator Joel Villanueva stressed this on Wednesday following the signing into law by President Rodrigo Duterte of the Anto-Hazing Law that bans all forms of hazing
Senator Bam Aquino, on the other hand, congratulated Sen. Ping Lacson, the principal sponsor of the law, as well as his fellow co-authors of the newly-signed law.
Republic Act 11053 or the Anti-Hazing Act of 2018 gives teeth to the previous 1995 version of the law as it now outrightly prohibits and makes hazing a criminal act while providing more substantial penalties for those who will be proven guilty.
“We are positive that this landmark legislation will change the way we view brotherhood and other kinds of associations especially in academic institutions and communities,” Villanueva said.
