Safe and sound! PNP says no terror threat on Duterte’s SONA
The Philippine National Police said that they have not monitored any terror threat that could sabotage the State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Rodrigo Duterte on July 24.
Director Oscar Albayalde, chief of the National Capital Region Police Office, said that although there are no terror threats, they will still continue their intelligence gathering to prepare for the SONA.
Albayalde said that the police are monitoring the movement of the ISIS-linked Maute terror group, who are currently causing conflict in Marawi City.
The NCRPO earlier said that they expect 15,000 protesters during SONA, and they will be deploying 6,000 police officers in Batasang Pambansa.
