Sandra Cam gearing up to head PCSO. But will PMAers let her?

Jul 11, 2017 @ 19:40

Former whistleblower Sandra Cam is being eyed by President Rodrigo Duterte as the new chairperson of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Politiko has learned.

However, her appointment is being opposed by police and military generals who are naturally loyal to incumbent PCSO chair Jose Jorge Corpuz, a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1982.

Cam’s bid to head the PCSO is also hurt by her closeness to gambling tycoon Charlie “Atong” Ang.

Her appointment is seen to benefit Ang, whose business has taken a beating from the reforms initiated by Corpuz and PCSO General Manager and former Marine Major Gen. Alexander Balutan.

Ang is the owner of Meridien Vista Gaming Corporation (MVGC), which has jai alai operations within the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority.

The CA recently ordered MVGC to stop operations after reports about massive losses in the small town lotteries operated by the PCSO in North Cagayan.

Look: Reaksiyon ni Bb. Sandra Cam ukol sa balitang lumabas sa News and Media Website na POLITIKO – at kanilang FB Page –

“Thanks for the publicity though it’s not accurate because I am not gearing up to head PCSO. If our beloved President Rodrigo Duterte is eyeing me to be the new Chairperson of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, then so be it. Drastic reforms will surely take place. On the insinuation that Atong Ang is a friend of mine and may compromise my position, well, being a whistleblower, my friendship will surely end where my loyalty to my country begins! If PRRD has other plans for me where he thinks I will fit to effectively serve our countrymen, those corrupt officials thereat should pray we will never cross paths! If there will be no government position for me, I will still continue to be an effective partner of this Administration in combatting corruption and the drug menace. I will also continue my advocacy of ensuring the welfare of our OFWs because I too was once an OFW and I perfectly understand where they are coming from!” – Sandra Cam, Whistleblower
