Sanofi, drug firms should pay for any fallout from their epic failures – Poe
Pharmaceutical firms should be “held responsible” for selling vaccines that are still undergoing clinical trials, Sen. Grace Poe said on Thursday.
The senator also said that drug companies should also be held “equally accountable” for any problem that arises from their manufactured vaccines.
Poe made the remark amid the public health “scare” created by the Dengavaxia dengue vaccine amid reports that there may be increased risk for people who were administered the vaccine but not previously afflicted with dengue.
She filed Senate Resolution No. 563 calling for a full-blown Senate inquiry into why the inoculation program against dengue was “hastily approved” despite the vaccine still undergoing trials.
The senator called on the government to ensure that there would be no repeat of the ill-planned immunization campaign.
