Sara Duterte v Risa Hontiveros: Is the senator abetting the Maute rebellion?

Jun 9, 2017 @ 10:54

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte has asked the Department of Justice (DOJ) to determine if a senator was abetting the rebellion launched by the Maute terror group in Marawi City.

Curiosity struck President Duterte’s daughter after watching Senator Risa Hontiveros who claimed the Marawi siege does not constitute a rebellion based on the country’s laws.

“Question lang sa DOJ, kung rebellion ang crime and this woman is saying it is not rebellion, are her words encouraging them to commit the crime? And so it becomes abetting rebellion?” Mayor Duterte wrote on Facebook.

“She works for the government that the terrorists are fighting… paki explain beh. Wala gyud ko kasabot,” she said.

Rebellion and lawless violence were the reasons used by the President to declare a 60-day martial law in Mindanao last month. Hontiveros is among the few senators who have called for a joint session of Congress to review Duterte’s martial law proclamation to check if it has basis or not.
