Save the date: Duterte to drop bombshell on narcopolitikos after Vietnam trip
Let the countdown begin.
President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday (Sept. 27) announced that he will publicly reveal the names of politikos and other government officials involved in the illegal drug trade after he returns from his trip to Vietnam on Sept. 29.
“I will be reading them publicly maybe when I come back from Vietnam because it is important that the public know kung sino ang mga opisyal nilang corrupt at kriminal,” he said in a speech at the inspection of a shabu laboratory in Pampanga.
Duterte said majority of the so-called “narcopolitikos” in his list are barangay captains, mayors, governors and congressmen.
The President will go on an official visit to Vietnam from Wednesday (Sept. 28) to Thursday (Sept. 29).
Earlier this month, Duterte showed an inch-thick document which he said contains the list of government officials supposedly involved in illegal drugs.
The President said he had the names of the narcopolitikos validated by cross-checking documents and intelligence provided to him by various government agencies.
